Two women from Hesperia found themselves in handcuffs after a shoplifting incident turned into a roadside bust in Victorville. Deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department nabbed Andrea Eileen Baker, 36, and Crystal Lynn Furrow, 39, after a quick-witted DICK’S Sporting Goods employee alerted authorities to merchandise theft on Sunday evening.

It took a swift response from Local law enforcement to eventually track down the suspects. According to a Sheriff's Department release, Deputies J. Greterman and Ruiz managed to time perfectly to conduct a traffic stop at the intersection of Nisqually Road and I-15 after performing an area check. During the stop, deputies reportedly spotted the stolen goods, clear as day, in the vehicle.

The intercepted goods were promptly returned to the store as Baker and Furrow were slapped with P.C. 459.5(A) charges for shoplifting. The duo was subsequently booked into High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto. While the formal merchandise recovery might translate into a small victory for local retailers, the implications of such acts run deeper into the fabric of Victorville's safety and security.

Authorities are now extending an invite to anyone who might hold additional pieces to this puzzle to step forward. Folks with further intel can decidedly reach out to the Victorville Police Station or anonymously drop a tip off via the We-Tip hotline or on their website. "Anyone with information about this investigation is urged to contact the Victorville Police Station at (760) 241-2911 or Sheriff's Dispatch at (760) 956-5001," the Sheriff's Department said, ensuring avenues remain open for community cooperation.
