As the city celebrates Labor Day weekend with BBQs, weekend getaways, Burning Man and more, we turn our attention backwards to take a look at some of our best stories from the summer that was.
So if you're not grilling, swimming, Burning or stuck in holiday traffic, kick back and sample 10 highlights from the Hoodline archives over the past three months.

June 12th: we went 100 years back in time to see the way we were, Lower Haight style.

June 25th: We looked at The Both/And and Half Note as we explored Divisadero's lost jazz heritage.

July 2nd: We discovered the secret passion of JQ Hester, bouncer at the Page.

July 10th: Hayes Valley's most hair-raising intersections got the spotlight, and readers weren't shy about chiming in.

July 14th: The 11 questions tourists ask about the Haight, plus our advice for these wayward souls.

July 29th: Here's what happens when one man creates a collection of cardboard signs from the streets

August 3rd: We took time out to remember the I-Beam, a historic Haight Street disco and punk venue.

August 11th: We explored the history of the San Francisco Tape Music Center, an early electronic music incubator.

August 25th: We have a conversation with the original Mr. Natural, a longtime Upper Haight fixture.

Those are just some of the highlights from the past summer. What will the rest of the year bring? Only time will tell, but we hope it will include a lot of rain, plus more stories from the geographic heart of the city.
