Lower Haight Leftovers: Bacon Day, An Eyewitness Account And MorePhoto: Andrew Dudley / Hoodline
We're gonna let you enjoy your holiday weekend, but first, here are a few news nuggets for you to digest.

Today's the last Friday of the month, and you know what that means: it's Critical Mass. So, keep an eye out.

Tomorrow is the Saturday before Labor Day, and you know what that means... it's International Bacon Day. Head to Memphis Minnie's (576 Haight) between 11am and 10pm for a full menu of bacon-based creations, including Frito Bacon Deviled Eggs, Double Bacon Corn Dogs, and Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie with Candied Bacon. A total of 13 dishes will grace the day's special menu. See for yourself.

The Bay Area Reporter posted an article this week interviewing someone claiming to have witnessed the ultimately-fatal August 10th attack on Bryan Higgins at Church and Duboce. The witness claims that Higgins had been antagonizing people nearby just before the incident, and got into a confrontation with a man who was waiting in line for breakfast at St. Francis Lutheran Church at 152 Church. The man allegedly punched Higgins multiple times "above the waist." Without further corroboration, however, it's impossible to know how accurate this account might be.

Wing Wings (422 Haight) officially applied for a beer and wine license this week.
Artist Seth Couture has created an acrylic painting called "Lower Haight in Blue," featuring a birds-eye view of the neighborhood. The 24" x 40" painting is available for a cool $1,325.

And finally, enjoy (?) those $2 Muni rides while you can.  On Monday, the regular adult fare goes up to $2.25.

Enjoy your day, laborers.
