A man was wounded near the intersection of Divisadero and Golden Gate this afternoon in what witnesses describe as a drive-by shooting.

Two residents who live near the site of the shooting tell Hoodline that two shots were fired around 2:15pm today at the southeast corner of the intersection.  A male victim, who was hit in the chest and the abdomen, could be heard yelling "Please help, I've been shot." He then collapsed, the witnesses report.

A nurse who lives up the block ran to assist the victim. She cut off his shirt and did compressions until an ambulance arrived, according to the witnesses. Police quickly blocked off Golden Gate Avenue to traffic in the area as they responded to the shooting.

Witnesses say the suspect was a man in his 20s or 30s driving a gray Honda sedan, who pulled a U-turn on Golden Gate as he fled the scene.

Police say the victim was transported to San Francisco General Hospital with critical injuries. The suspect is not in custody at this time.
