NOPNA Meeting Recap & Divisadero LeftoversPhoto: Brandon Doran
The final NOPNA meeting of 2014 was held on Thursday night, and a lot of hot issues were covered in the meeting's two hours. With Park Station Captain Raj Vaswani and District 5 Supervisor London Breed in attendance, it was a great opportunity to air grievances and ask questions.

The first issue covered was the ever-controversial issue of residential parking permits.  As a reminder, here's what's being proposed. A fresh piece of news related to this is that parking spots along the park sides of the Panhandle will not be eligible for residential permits. Instead, they'll be converted to two-hour time limit spots.  Stay tuned for a final community meeting on this in early November.

Also discussed was the recent shooting on Golden Gate and Broderick, for which Captain Vaswani stated that he has no leads at this point. Does it seem like there's been an uptick in shootings in the neighborhood recently? If so, that's because there has been, a little bit. We're digging into the details and will bring you more on this next week.

The meeting wrapped up with a reminder to stay safe and aware in San Francisco, thanks to a visit from SAFE

The meeting once again proved that attending gatherings by local neighborhood associations is a great way to keep abreast of happenings in the 'hood and to meet your neighbors. We'll let you know when the next NOPNA meeting takes place.

And with this official business under our belts, here are a few other bits and pieces of neighborhood news to tide you through the weekend:

  • Both Rare Device and Chile Pies are hiring! If you're looking for seasonal retail work visit Rare Device's posting here. If you're an experienced baker who likes making pies, email info {at} chilepies {dot} com. More info on Chile Pies' Facebook page
  • St. Cyprian's is hosting Free Improv Classes & BYOB on the last Wednesday of every month. Don't bother puling out a calendar—it's this coming Wednesday the 24th, at 2097 Turk Street from 7:30-9:30pm.
  • The Mill is going to discontinue making pastries in-house, with the intention of turning that energy into ... more bread! Their bakers will be working with outside pastry chefs to keep things stocked, but will be narrowing their focus to things like bread made with "einkorn" wheat.
  • Finally, the Divisadero Art Walk is next Thursday, September 25th! Mark your calendars. We'll bring you all the news of what's happening next week.

Happy Saturday, Hoodline readers. Have a safe, fun, and potentially leather-filled weekend.
