Lower Haight Weekend Planner: Art, Parties, Pumpkins And MorePhoto: Andrew Dudley / Hoodline
If you're into art, music, and pumpkins, we've got a weekend planner for you.

Tonight, from 7pm to 9pm, Groove Merchant Records (687 Haight) hosts a release party for the first issue of Kut-UuP, a zine comprised of collages promoting "the disfiguration & beautification of the mundane." Artwork from Kut-UuP will be available for sale, plus "cold drinks and questionable music."

On Saturday, Duboce Park will probably be the scene of the annual Great Pumpkin Fest, a free event sponsored by the First Christian Church. We say "probably" because there's zero information about this one online, though a flyer on the park's bulletin board advertises pumpkin carving, face painting, games, and treats from 10am to 1pm. Sounds like fun, if it indeed happens.

Update, 3:50pm: Due to the threat of inclement weather, the Great Pumpkin Fest has been postponed. However, the organizers are still hoping to put on the event and are coming up a new plan soon. We'll keep you posted.

If you're into electronic music, get thee to the 500 block of Haight on Saturday afternoon. Robotspeak (589 1/2 Haight) will be hosting the 2014 Northern California Synth Meet, with reps from a variety of synth and module brands on hand (Moog, Synthrotek, Make Noise, and more) letting folks try out both new and vintage gear. The event goes from 2pm to 6pm. And next door neighbor Vinyl Dreams (593 Haight) will be hosting a full lineup of live electronic music, starting at 1pm.

And on Sunday, artist David Choe will be making an appearance at Upper Playground (220 Fillmore), signing copies of his new book, "Snowman Monkey BBQ." It contains a selection of Choe's watercolors, plus photographs, emails, and text messages — "the complete package of a schizophrenic, perverted artistic genius mixed with [c]ravings of a lunatic," as he puts it. Sunday's book signing starts at 3pm.

And of course, there's that whole World Series thing. The Giants host three consecutive home games tonight, tomorrow, and Sunday, all starting at 5:07pm. Expect crowded bars and even more crowded N-Judahs.

Happy weekend, fans.
