Upper Haight Retail Vacancy Report, October EditionPhoto: Chris Riedinger / Flickr
For a while there, the Haight was suffering from an unusually high number of vacant storefronts. Many of those have since been scooped up by urban streetwear shops, as we reported back in July, but a few notable stragglers remain. So if you're in the market for a Haight area storefront (or massive mauve apartment building), check out what's still on the market.
1466 Haight St.

It seems hard to believe, but the All You Knead space at 1466 Haight has been closed since March of 2013, or a whopping one year and eight months. Back in March, we reported that the space was for lease following a Craigslist ad which said they were closed for a seismic retrofit.

The property is still listed for $6/square foot, which is the same price it was going for in March. And the retrofit progress? Our sleuthing showed they haven't taken out any new building permits since 2013, and interestingly, the Loopnet listing was updated two days ago and still lists the same 2-3 month estimate for the work to be finished that it did back in March.

In the meantime, the front of the space remains boarded up.

Another space that's been vacant for a while is 1728 Haight, which was Loyal Army Clothing's flagship store until May of 2012. After that, the space was inhabited by Fashion Exchange, a clothing consignment chain. After about eight months in the space,  Fashion Exchanged shut its doors in February of this year, citing problems paying an ever-increasing rent. Since then, the storefront has been empty, and as of this writing, there's no news about potential new tenants, and there aren't any permits on file to update the space.

Off the main drag, there's a 2,500 square foot space available for lease at 225 Frederick St., at the corner of Ashbury. It was Frederick Street Super Market until 2013, at which point there was a rumor that Organica might go into the space. Now, however, the space is on the market for $5,950 per month, or about $2.40 per square foot.

One the non-commercial real estate front, the pinkish building at the southeast corner of Page and Ashbury is for sale. It's got four stories, nine apartments, multiple garages, and can be yours for only $4.7 million.

We'll wait while you get out your checkbook.
