A few weeks ago, The Boys and Girls Club building at 1950 Page St. quietly closed its doors, as the organization will migrate over to a fancy new clubhouse at Fulton & Gough, set to open in January. As we reported back in March, the Page Street space has been purchased by Fei Tian Academy, a Falun Gong-related fine arts school.
Since we last checked in, Fei Tian Academy has attained accreditation as a middle and high school, and will host 6th through 12th graders with a focus on classical Chinese dance. (You know those ads that you see every winter for the Shen Yun Performing Arts? The same dance instructors will be teaching at the school.)

Here's a little more on the school:

Fei Tian CA is committed to offering the best education model by combining a rigorous academic curriculum alongside advanced training in dance. We aim to educate the whole child by placing equal emphasis on professional skills, academic knowledge, the study of culture, and character development.

Currently under construction, there's a note posted at the front entrance apologizing for the noise and disruption. Workers are renovating both floors, making the smaller rooms bigger to accommodate dance studios, replacing the water sprinklers, and moving bathrooms around. Some work is expected to continue after the school's early January opening.

The building is expected to accommodate up to 200 kids total, and will also provide after school programs and weekend dance classes with one adult dance class planned for Sundays.

So, with an opening set for January 12th, look for young people to return to this block of the neighborhood very shortly.
