Souls Of Divisadero IIPhotos: Dijon Bowden
It's time for another installment of brief on-the-street interviews and snapshots taken around Divisadero by our friend Dijon of Souls of San Francisco.

“She’s due between the 11th and the 15th. Her name is Willow. We’re gonna have her at the house.”

“Is this your first?”

“It is my first!”

“How you feeling about being a mom?”

“I’m ready…let’s do this! Over the course of the time it takes to make a baby you get mentally prepared.

"From the day I found out to today it’s been such an emotional leap. At first I was like, ‘Ohh, I’m feeling nervous’ and now I’m like ‘Come out, come out. I wanna play with your feet, I wanna love you so bad.”

“Do you have any favorite memories with your sister?”

Right - “We played pretend a lot. Lots of colors.”

“What was one of your fantasy worlds?”

Right - “We had good faeries.”

Left - “Yeah, they lived under our trampoline. Willow is named after one of those faeries, the Willow faerie.”

“What’s one of your favorite things about her?”

Right - “Her creative mind. She always wants to play, and see, and do.”

“And what about you?”

Left - “I love her energy, she has a lot of it. She’s very rambunctious. It’s great to see that as we get older it doesn’t go away. She’s very caring, she tries to take care of people.”

Right - “I came in 1968, the summer of love, was deep into that, moved into this building in 1979, raised two children there, been there 35 years. That’s your story.”

“What’s one of your favorite things about your mom?"

Right - “Let’s go!”

Left - “She’s determined ... I think that’s as far as we’ll go right now.”

“I moved here 45 years ago from New Orleans. Nowadays, I enjoy cooking and walking the city.”

“Do you have any goals you’re working towards right now?”

“Retirement. I’m thinking about where I want to live out the rest of my days on this Earth.”

“Do you feel like you’ve had a purpose or mission in your life?”

“Oh yeah, I’ve lived my dream.”

“What was your dream?”

“To be semi-successful in my career, and hey ... I’ve done it.”

“Do you have any advice for those us still making our way through city life?”

“Well you have to overcome all sorts of things to find your happiness but just be yourself, live your own dream, don’t live anyone else’s dream.”

“I work in finance but what excites me is travel. I went to Japan recently to try their whiskies. If money were no object, I’d open my very own whiskey bar here.”
