ECCO Temporarily Takes Over DSF SpacePhotos: Logan Hesse / Hoodline

Don't panic; DSF isn't closing.

The 'hood's home of streetwear, skee-ball and Berlin-style ping pong isn't going anywhere. Instead, the clothing store/event space/local hangout at 520 Haight St., formerly known as D-Structure, is playing host to a pop-up by Danish shoe and accessory brand ECCO in collaboration with Southern California-based Solé bicycles.

The event, which will kick off with a launch party from 6pm-8pm tonight, will be fully open to the public from 9am-6pm on Friday. According to an ECCO spokesperson, the focus will not be on sales but rather to give people a chance to “come check out the brand and experience the ECCO lifestyle” and its laid-back, outdoorsy ethos. The new season's collection will be on full display and special discount cards will be available for use at either of the company's two San Francisco locations (at 40 Grant Ave. and in the Westfield Centre).

The focal point of Friday's pop-up event will be custom Solé bicycles trimmed with leather seats, handlebars and accessories. Although they are currently on backorder, you can special order them during the pop-up event which will also feature snacks, refreshments and (knowing DSF) a few surprises.

According to Stacy Roman, who is handling PR for the event, “San Francisco is a special market for ECCO” due to the city's outdoor lifestyle.

So, of all the clothing stores in all the 'hoods in all the city, why'd they come popping up into ours?

“It just felt right," Roman said. "We came and scouted some locations and as soon as we saw this one, we knew this is it. It's laid back, it's got that cool up-and-coming feeling. ECCO isn't a flashy brand so we didn't want to go somewhere crazy, over-the-top; it was a perfect fit.”
