Fetch Weekend Ahead In The Castro

We're not trying to make "fetch" happen (it's never going to happen), but there seems to be a recurring theme this weekend involving parks, dogs, and balls, so no word is more appropriate. Check out a sampling of weekend events below, for four-legged and two-legged Castro residents alike:

Friday, April 17th:

Aatxe Opening
As Hoodline reported earlier this week, Aatxe will be opening its doors at 5:30pm Friday evening. It will be offering a variety of Basque cuisine, as well as an extensive gin and tonics menu and additional cocktails (including pitchers).

Saturday, April 18th:

Dogfest 2015
While technically in Duboce Triangle, the 8th Annual Dogfest is worth crossing the street from Castro proper to Duboce Park. The event, which includes dog costume contests, kid-friendly activities and plenty of pooches, benefits SFUSD's McKinley Elementary School and runs from 11am to 4pm. For a taste, check out a recap from last year's iteration.

Eco Pop-Up Brings Compost/Recycling Program To Dolores Park
As the Examiner reported, SF Rec and Park will begin a new "Eco Pop-Up" that will provide enhanced recycling and composting options every Saturday, Sunday, and holiday in Dolores Park from noon to 8pm in an effort to curb the growing trash problems in the park.

Softball Fundraisers Galore - 1st Inning
Many teams from the SF Gay Softball League are having beer bust/raffle prize/jello shot fundraisers this weekend. On Saturday, Team Thumpers will be at Toad Hall (4146 18th St.) from 3pm-7:30pm. Team Seamen will be at Moby Dick (4049 18th St.) from 4pm-7pm. The multiple fundraisers continue on Sunday. Team SF Force will be at HiTops (2247 Market St.) from 3pm-6pm. Team T-Rex will be at The Mix (4086 18th St.) from 3pm-7pm. Team Renegades will be at LOOKOUT (3600 16th St.) from 3pm-7pm. Team Quest will be at Toad Hall (4146 18th St.) from 3pm-7:30pm.
