Do you live, work, or spend quality time in a neighborhood that Hoodline covers? Is there a particular topic you want to explore, or a story you'd like to see covered by us? Can you write?

If you said yes to any or all of the above, we’d like to talk to you about writing articles for Hoodline.

There’s a lot of local news to write about, and sadly not enough people doing it these days. But the stories still matter.

From informing your neighbors about transportation and crime, to giving them a heads up about new businesses to visit, to showcasing interesting local characters, writing about your neighborhood can help connect you and others around you. (Bonus: it's also pretty fun.)

Right now, we're looking for stories in the following neighborhoods:

  • Lower Haight
  • Divisadero
  • Hayes Valley
  • North Beach
  • The Financial District

… and soon, SoMa.

If you're interested in writing for us, let us know a few details about yourself, your writing interests, and what neighborhood(s) you'd like to cover, here.

There's no professional writing experience required: we'll help you with story ideas and editing. We're looking for folks with a healthy curiosity, who are able to tell a good story and manage the basics of meeting deadlines, replying to emails, and taking constructive feedback.

You can write as frequently (or infrequently) as you'd like, and we pay on a per-post basis for neighborhood writers, and a monthly stipend for neighborhood editors.
