This week, the Castro has been full of changes. For starters, we found out that Streetlight Records will close for good this Saturday, August 1st, and that A. G. Ferrari will close tomorrow as well. Along with that, we also updated you on the progress of Philz Coffee and The Kitty Chateau, the sale of Jumpin' Java and the change of ownership at Rosenberg DeliWe also found out why Lucky 13 was forced to shut down its patio last Friday.

Earlier in the week, five neighborhood associations, including Duboce Triangle Neighborhood Association and the Eureka Valley Neighborhood Association, announced a new manifesto urging an increase in the required percentage of below-market-rate units in new developments from 12 to 20 percent.

Nighttime travelers, remember that Castro Station will close down from 10pm-5am every night, starting tonight, for subway system upgrades. For the next six months, you'll have to take aboveground Muni lines to get where you're going after dark.

And finally, this week saw the heartbreaking news of a homeless man who passed away on the streets of the Castro.
