Each week, we'll feature an especially interesting event in the neighborhood based on the event submissions we get, and what we hear about while we're out on the beat. If you want to be considered for next week, please submit your event here.

The FiDi is always one of the best places to grab a beer on St. Patrick's Day, thanks to its convenient concentration of bars and its tradition of street parties.

One of the most happening is the Front Street St. Patrick's Day Block Party from 3–8pm Thursday, centered on Front between Sacramento and California streets. Grab a cup of green suds from Schroeder's or Royal Exchange, both pouring at outdoor booths, and stick around for music from Wonder Bread 5 starting at 5:30pm.

About 1,000 people pack the block each year, and after things wind down outside, Schroeder's will revert to its roots for a more German-themed St. Patty's After PartyStarting at 7:30pm, Polkalicous will play and beer hall games will commence.

Also on the same block is Harringtons Bar and Grill, which will host its own party with live music and dancing by Ben Hunter & Celtic Scandal and the Whelan Kennely Irish Dancers. Day admission is by reservation, and after 5pm, it's $3 to get in by advance ticket purchase.

If that doesn't make you want to dance a jig, check out some other St. Patty's parties and events this week—including popular ones at the Irish Bank and Taverna Aventine.
