While Pride festivities in the downtown area seemed to go off without a major hitch this past weekend, SFPD reports that the department made one arrest at the Pride Parade for an alleged hate crime, and is seeking the public's help identifying suspects in a separate assault in the Mission.

According to a press release issued today, Tenderloin Station officers arrested a 50-year-old man, Emmaunel Morancy, at 11:40am Sunday, June 26th, at Mason and Market.

Morancy allegedly approached two 21-year-old women from behind on Market near Fifth Street and pushed one of the women, causing her to fall into her partner. "The victims turned to face the suspect who now had clenched fists and threatened to kill them because of their sexual orientation," the department reported.

Though the suspect walked away, officers later detained Morancy and he was positively identified by the victims and booked into County Jail on charges of criminal threats, battery and a hate crime enhancement.

The SFPD Special Investigations Division is also investigating a separate "prejudice-based attack" early Saturday morning in the Mission that left the victim with a minor injury.

According to the department, a 25-year-old San Francisco resident was walking at 12:05am on 22nd Street near York when two unidentified male suspects drove up in a dark gray sedan and yelled homophobic slurs out the window. The victim heard a loud bang from the passenger-side window before feeling a sharp pain and seeing blood dripping from his right hand. The injury is believed to have been caused by a shooting with a pellet or BB gun.

The suspects have not yet been identified in this case and the Special Investigations Division is asking anyone with information to contact the SFPD Anonymous Tip Line at (415) 575-4444 or Text a Tip to TIP411 with "SFPD" and the beginning of the message.
