The SFPD is seeking the public's assistance in gathering footage of the altercation that led to a fatal shooting on July 17th on the 900 block of Geary Street.

"The homicide investigation thus far has revealed that an argument and physical altercation occurred around the 900 block of Geary, which then led to the shooting," Officer Grace Gatpandan said today via email. The shooting left 26-year-old Alameda resident Joshua Mejia dead, and sent an unidentified man to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Previously, the department confirmed that the fight began as patrons were leaving a bar around 2am. A car then pulled up, and an unidentified suspect stepped out and fired several shots.

Anyone with photos or videos captured before or during the altercation is asked to call the SFPD Homicide Detail at (415) 553-1145 or the SFPD Anonymous Tip Line at (415) 575-4444referencing the case number 160-575-559. You can also text a tip to TIP411 with "SFPD" at the beginning of the message.
