As expected, this week's king tides paired with today's storm is putting The Embarcadero under water.

For those staying warm and dry indoors, here's a look at the scene this afternoon, viaΒ Burrito Justice:

Meanwhile in the Mission, the Public Utilities Commission has installed "temporary interlocking plastic flood barriers" at 17th and Folsom, a low-lying area prone to flooding (thanks to the former Mission Creek).

According to the agency, "San Francisco is the only major urban area in the country to employ this innovative technique to minimize flooding during heavy rain storms."
