After 30 years in the neighborhood, Castro Street Tailors has reportedly shuttered.

The shop's owner, Sofia Merwin, moved out this past weekend, reports neighbor and Castro Merchants' president Daniel Bergerac.

We called Merwin multiple times and stopped by the store but were unable to reach her for comment.

The tailor's closure won’t be a complete surprise to some, however. Reviewers on Yelp often noted the shop’s inconsistent hours—likely the result of Merwin’s daily commute from Antioch to San Francisco.

Merwin had been a longtime member of the neighborhood's merchants' association, Bergerac noted, and that although he's "sad to lose her," Castro Street Tailor's closing is a "sign of the times."
