A 61-year-old man was critically injured when he was hit by a car that had just spun out after a crash in the Mission on Thursday, police said.

The crash was reported at 2:29pm in the area of 18th Street and South Van Ness Avenue.

A 21-year-old man drove into the intersection and struck another vehicle, which spun out and hit the victim. The driver left the crash scene, but was apprehended nearby and arrested. Police have not released his name.

The victim was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said. —Scott Morris
