Police are investigating a Sunday morning drive-by shootout between two cars that took place on the 2700 block of Polk Street.

Officers responded to a 9:30am call of shots fired in the area between a grey sedan and a red BMW coupe as they sped through Polk Street between Bay and Lombard.

According to Hoodline content partner ABC7, witnesses heard at least 13 shots exchanged. The incident brought an element of drama and danger to the normally quiet Russian Hill neighborhood on Mother's Day.

Neighbor Kevin O'Donnell, witnessed the exchange from his apartment window. "I saw two cars, side-by-side, blow through the stop sign," he told ABC7.

While bullet casings were located in the area, there were no injuries from the shoot-out, though bullets struck at least one car in the area.

By the time police arrived on the scene, the cars involved in the dispute were gone. One was last seen speeding northbound on Polk Street.

No arrests have been made, and police are still investigating.
