SF Eats: Juice Flows, Häagen-Dazs Refreshes, & The Melt ExpandsPhoto: The Melt/Facebook

We've got the latest intel from SF's culinary scene: a fifth location for Joe & The Juice, an Austrian tavern that's in the works, and more.

New Eats

SoMa: Juice Craze
865 Market St. (Westfield Centre)

With Amoura Cafe, Bistro Bruger, Mr. Hana and Bristol Farms all closing shop, the Westfield Centre went through several closures at the beginning of this year. Now, it looks like Juice Craze has taken over one of the empty spaces and in business since May 19th.

"They were scheduled to open in March, but [the] permit and agreement hadn't been reached yet. But they're indeed open for business now," said veteran tipster Al. "There's no menu on display yet, but seven juices are available. "

The juices—which our tipster said were freshly made on the spot and stored in double wall glass canteens—come in two sizes. Customers can order a medium drink for $5 or a large for $6.

Our tipster added that his favorite item was the honeydew and kiwi mix. Let us know your favorite flavors in the comments below.

SoMa: Häagen-Dazs
865 Market St. (Westfield Centre)

Also at the Westfield, Häagen-Dazs, located next to Juice Craze, is open again. According to Al, the ice cream company has "remodeled the place with a more modern look with mostly faux wooden paneling and gold accents."

Customers will be able to find the usual ice cream flavors and options on the menu with the addition of a "trio sundae." According to the new spot's Yelp page, the trio sundae includes three scoops of ice cream, whipped cream and other toppings, and comes in two different flavors: white chocolate raspberry truffle and toasted coconut caramel.

Coming Soon

Fidi: Joe & The Juice
50 California St. (at Davis St.)

Al also let us know that Joe & The Juice, the juice company that's based out of Copenhagen, Denmark, is in the early stages of taking over the space that currently stands empty at 50 California St.

This will be the fifth location for the European company, including its storefront at the San Francisco International Airport. We don't know when it will be open for business yet, but in the meantime, you can grab a drink at its FiDi (235 Montgomery St. & 525 Market Place) and SoMa (301 Howard St.) locations.

North Beach: The Salzburg
663 Union St.

The Salzburg—a new Austrian wine tavern—looks to be taking over the empty space at 663 Union St, said Al. This used to be home to Cinecitta, an Italian restaurant known for its Roman-style pizzas before it closed down in 2015 due to maintenance problems.

Our tipster added, "construction [has been] in the works for several months, but it's finally coming alive. They're said to be open summer of 2017."

We'll keep an eye out on the new spot for more details on its menu and the opening date.

Tenderloin: The Melt
925 Market St.

Finally, Al let us know that over in the Tenderloin, The MeltJoe Biden's favorite grilled-cheese sandwich joint— will be opening its second storefront at 925 Market St., across the street from Subway.

The Melt also announced on Facebook that it was closing its headquarters in SoMa (557 Howard St.) to make way for a new hotel and moving into its new space in the Tenderloin.

The Melt currently has one location in San Francisco at 1 Embarcadero Center, and one in Berkeley at 2400 Telegraph Ave.

"I'm taking hints from a couple of work trucks filled with aluminum ducts, ready to be installed," said Al. "As of now, I don't have a time frame for opening, but the signage says summer 2017."

The Facebook post confirms this, and states that The Melt is hoping to be ready for business at 925 Market by early June.
