San Francisco police asked people in Hayes Valley in the vicinity of Oak and Webster Streets to shelter in place this morning due to police activity.

The order was issued at 11:18am for Oak St. between Webster and Buchanan; at this time, there's no word on why police are asking people to remain indoors and avoid the area.

[Updated: 12:04pm] Emergency officials have lifted the shelter in place order.

[Updated; 12:09pm] According to Bay City News, police spokeswoman Officer Giselle Talkoff said police issued the order because they were responding to a suicide attempt, which has been averted.
