Attention, falafel fans: There’s a new spot to fill up in the Mission. Called Tahini, it features a streamlined menu of just five items: shawarma, kebab, falafel, kanafeh (a Middle Eastern cheese pastry), and french fries.

As we reported in March, the new spot comes from owner Monti Majthoub, a former software engineer who hails from a family of restaurateurs in Jordan. He debuted the new spot at 2859 Mission St. (between 24th and 25th streets) this week.

Shav S., the first Yelper to review the new spot on May 22nd, said: "This new local spot just opened today and I can already tell it's going to be my go-to for lunch (and maybe dinner too, like it was today)! The food is so fresh, everything is made from scratch and made as you order. This was definitely one of the tastiest (possibly THE tastiest) falafel I've had in SF! The juices are delicious too, not overdone with sugar so the natural flavors are still preserved. The juice options are lemonade, tamarindo, and jamaica. There are a good variety of food options for both meat eaters and vegetarians alike."

Yelper Tom C. added: "I was lucky enough to stumble across Tahini on its opening day yesterday, looks like a great addition to the neighborhood! Monti (who is likely the nicest kebab store owner I've ever met) suggested the Chicken Kufta—fresh bread from the oven, made to order kebab & some decent hot sauce - really hit the mark! Monti even suggested I sample the fresh juices—I combined hibiscus & lemonade which made a great sweet/sour combo of flavors. Excited to try everything else on the menu!"

Stop by and check it out for yourself: Tahini is now open 11am-7pm daily, at 2859 Mission St.
