Here's an overview of notable incidents reported around SoMa since our last crime roundup earlier this month. All reports come from the SFPD's daily crime recaps, unless otherwise noted.

Burning Cardboard Lights Car On Fire

On June 18th, a fire was reported at 4:17pm on the 300 block of Langston Street. A woman between 40-60 years old was seen in the area, lighting cardboard on fire. According to police, the wind blew the cardboard under a nearby car, which then caught on fire. The suspect then fled the scene. No arrest has been made.

Freelon Street Vehicle Fire

Later on the same day, at 11:25pm, another vehicle fire was reported on Freelon and 4th streets. A 30-year-old man’s car was set on fire by an unknown suspect. SFFD was called to extinguish the fire. The victim waited until the next morning to have his car towed and then reported the incident to the police. No arrest has been made.

Man Fatally Shot on Folsom Street 

In the early hours of June 17th, at 2:04am, at the 1500 block of Folsom Street, a 31-year-old man sustained what was initially reported as a non-life threatening gunshot wound. The victim left a nearby business with a group of people. An argument then took place, and a shot was fired by a man between 25 and 30 years of age. The shot struck the victim, who later died of his injuries hours later. No arrest has been made. 

Woman Hit With Bullet

A 31-year-old woman was shot in the hand on June 16th at 3:23am. The victim was walking near Division and Potrero streets when she heard several gunshots. She reported feeling a pain in her hand and then realized she had been shot. The victim was hospitalized and her wound was considered non-life threatening. No witnesses of the shooting have been located and no description of the suspects is available.

Robbery With Gun Ends In Injury

On June 15th at 12:16am, a 35-year-old man was shot during a robbery near the 400 block of Brannan Street. The suspects, two men in their mid to late 20s approached the victim and demanded his necklace. The victim refused to comply and a struggle ensued. The first suspect pulled out a handgun and shot the victim, taking his property. The victim was hospitalized with non-threatening injuries and no arrests have been made.

Hit-and-Run Injures Woman and Child

At 8:12pm on June 10th, a 41-year-old woman and a 3-year-old girl were hit by a vehicle on the the first block of Columbia Square. The 19-year-old male suspect hit the victims in his car as they were crossing the street. The suspect then fled the scene, but he was later found and arrested. Both victims are said to have been hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

Violent Robbery On 6th Street 

At 3:33am on June the 8th a robbery which lead to the injury and hospitalization of a 53-year-old man took place at 6th and Mission streets. According to the report, the 35-40-year-old male suspect stole money from the victim which lead to a physical altercation. The suspect struck the victim multiple times causing the victim to lose consciousness. The suspect then fled in an unknown direction and no arrest has been made. The victim’s injuries were described as non-life threatening.

Suspect Hits Man With Brick During Mission St. Robbery

On June 7th, at approximately 10:00pm, a 30-year-old man was injured in a robbery involving six separate suspects on the 600 block of Mission Street. The victim was walking to his home when the suspects, describes as men in their early 20s jumped him. One suspect hit the victim with a brick.

The suspects then fled the scene after taking the victim's wallet, phone, and backpack containing his computer. The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. No arrests have been made.
