In response to President Donald Trump’s recent call to ban transgender people from serving in the military, there will be an emergency protest at at 6pm tonight at Harvey Milk Plaza in the Castro.
This morning, Trump rescinded a policy set in place by the Obama administration that cleared the way for transgender individuals to serve openly in the armed forces. Today's announcement has been largely denounced by politicians on both sides of the aisle and by civil rights activists.

On Facebook, more than 1,700 people have expressed interest in the event, which is scheduled for 6pm at Harvey Milk Plaza.
Organizers are asking supporters "to come to this emergency protest to show his administration and the world that San Francisco stands with the transgender community.”
