Just before 1pm, SFPD announced on Twitter that the department issued a shelter in place order for people near the intersection of Turk and Leavenworth streets after a suspicious device was discovered.

People on or near the the 200 block of Turk and the 100 block of Leavenworth should avoid windows and remain off the street until the order is rescinded.
Officials said Muni is rerouting service and drivers should avoid the area. We'll update this story when more information is available.

[Update: 1:57pm] ABC7 is reporting that the suspicious device is suspected to be a hand grenade.
[Update: 2:09pm] Via Twitter, the SF Department of Emergency announced that the order has been lifted, but residual traffic delays are expected.
