In six unrelated incidents, eight people were wounded by gunfire in San Francisco over the long holiday weekend. No arrests have been made in any of these cases.

Sunday, September 3

Teen Wounded While Trying To Avoid Gunfire In Mission

On Sunday at 7:18pm, a 16-year-old male saw a shooting as he was leaving a business near 26th and Treat streets in the Mission, so he walked in “the opposite direction,” according to police.

At that point, he “heard a vehicle speed off and heard another shot,” which turned out to be the round that left him with non-life-threatening wounds. The victim was transported to a hospital.

Potrero Hill Shooting Victim Declines To Give Statement

At 2:35am on Sunday morning, police from Bayview Station responded to the 700 block of Missouri Street, where they found a 26-year-old man who was suffering from non-life-threatening wounds.

The man, who refused to give a statement to police, was hospitalized for treatment.

Man Shot In Leg, Transports Himself To Hospital

About an hour earlier, near 6th Street and Ahern Way in the SoMa district at 1:35am, a 27-year-old man was “walking down the street when he heard gunshots and then noticed he had been shot,” police reported.

The victim was able to transport himself to a hospital, where he was treated for his injuries.

Saturday, September 2

Three Wounded In Mission Drive-By

On Saturday, two 17-year-olds and a 20-year-old, all male, were standing with a group near the intersection of Rosa Parks Lane and Guerrero Street in the Mission when a group of suspects “drove by and shot at the group” around 11:33pm.

The vehicle, which was not described, fled the scene; all of the victims were transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Man Shot In Leg While Standing With Friends

At 10pm on Saturday near Missouri and Watchman streets in the Bayview, a 28-year-old man who was standing with a group of friends “heard four gunshots,” then fell to the ground after he realized that he’d been wounded in the leg.

A friend of the victim drove him to San Francisco General Hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Man Injured In Drive-By Shooting On Mission St.

At 2:55am on Saturday, a 21-year-old man and a 20-year-old victim whose gender is unknown were walking on the 2100 block of Mission street when a car pulled up next to them and a suspect opened fire.

The man was was wounded and taken to a hospital for treatment.
