Here’s a look at recently reported crimes in the Bayview Police District, which includes Potrero Hill, Dogpatch,  Portola, Bayview and Hunters Point.

Woman critically injured after shooting

Last night around 10:45pm, a physical altercation between two women escalated into gunfire, and a 26-year-old woman was shot. For more information, see our full story.

Argument ends with golf club attack

On September 26th around noon near the corner of Cesar Chavez and Bayshore, a man in his 30s was involved in an argument with a 33-year-old woman who struck him with a golf club.

The victim was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

Hit-and-run driver kills owner of Gus's Market

On September 22nd at 2:17am, a hit-and-run collision near the intersection of Jerrold Avenue and Toland Street took the life of neighborhood grocer Konstantinos “Gus” Vardakastanis. For more information, see our full story

A memorial for Vardakastanis will be held tonight at 7pm at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church at 999 Brotherhood Way.

83-year-old woman discovers three thieves 

On September 21st, at 10:40am, an 83-year-old woman discovered three men ransacking her home on the 200 block of Holyoke Street. The three suspects fled the scene in a car driven by a fourth suspect.

Man robbed at gunpoint recovers some property

On September 20th at 3:30pm, a 61-year-old man was standing in front of a liquor store on the 1300 block of Revere Avenue when two men held him up at gunpoint.

The first suspect, who wore a ski mask, snatched the victim's chain and watch, while the second took his keys and wallet. The suspects fled the scene, but the victim recovered his wallet and keys on Revere Avenue shortly after the incident.

Alameda man charged with homicide

On September 19th, 37-year-old Alameda resident Michael Peace was arrested for his alleged involvement in the January 1st shooting of 35-year-old San Francisco resident Mitchell Smith on Mendell Street and Oakdale Ave. For more information, see our full story.

Man hospitalized after stabbing

On September 15th, at 11:40pm, a 35-year-old man was stabbed by a 30-year-old man on the 1300 block of Fitzgerald Avenue. The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Man arrested in connection with assaults on Asian women

On September 1st, Agustin Garcia, 19, was arrested in connection with a series of unprovoked attacks on Asian women in the Portola District and Visitacion Valley. For more information, see our full story

81-year-old woman pushed off Muni platform

On September 1st, 51-year-old Jacqueline Miller allegedly pushed an 81-year-old woman off a Muni platform, reportedly because the victim is Asian.

Miller was later arrested and charged with a hate crime, aggravated assault, and elder abuse. For more information, see our full story.
