The fire started at approximately 6:33pm at 1007 Shotwell St. (between 24th and 25th streets) before spreading to 1011A/B Shotwell St. A fire truck arrived on the scene three minutes later, but the incident rose to a second alarm at 6:46pm when 70 firefighters and 22 vehicles were on the scene.

An hour later, at 7:46pm, the fire was under control. Three residents of 1007 Shotwell St. who were displaced sought support from the American Red Cross, while SFFD reported that eight inhabitants of the other building found their own accommodations last night.

The fire, which was visible from adjoining neighborhoods, remains under investigation.
