San Francisco Water Power Sewer is working to repair a broken water main at 2nd & Harrison streets this morning. Vehicular traffic has been restricted to one eastbound lane on 2nd Street, and the utility has temporarily interrupted water service as a crew makes repairs.

According to reports on social media, the leak has been ongoing since the early morning hours. Crews have set out pylons to direct traffic away from standing water, which at one point was deep enough to slosh onto sidewalks as cars drove past.

No word yet on an estimated time for a fix, but Chronicle Metro reporter Sophie Haigney Tweeted that there is "a large sinkhole in the street" and that workers were searching for the cause of the breach.

According to KTVU, the hole is "roughly 8 feet in diameter."
