An altercation in an Excelsior district playground escalated to a stabbing yesterday afternoon.

The incident occurred at 2:18pm on the 700 block of Moscow street when a 15-year-old boy was kicking a soccer ball with friends at Crocker Amazon Playground.

A 45-year-old man who was nearby grew angry when a kicked ball landed in his vicinity; when the victim approached to retrieve the ball, the suspect stabbed him with a pair of scissors.

Officers from Ingleside Station responded to the scene and took the suspect into custody. The victim, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries, was transported to a hospital for treatment.
