Police from Taraval Station contacted administrators at an elementary school yesterday afternoon after two area residents discovered three burglars in their home.

According to police, a 26-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man entered their home on the 2400 block of Quintara Street at 11:58am and found three male suspects in their twenties. The thieves assaulted the male resident and ordered both victims into a room while they “rummaged through their property.”

After stealing the victims’ cash, the suspects fled the scene. The victim who was assaulted was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

In an email sent to parents of students of Robert Louis Stevenson Elementary School, police visited the campus around 12:30pm “to see if they could identify the thieves on our school security camera.” Authorities were reportedly seeking a “dark blue Dodge station wagon,” according to the email.

Although students weren’t in danger, afternoon outdoor classes were held indoors, students were kept inside the school’s perimeter, and administrators notified other area schools as a courtesy. “The kids are SAFE and secure because we are normally a locked campus anyway,” read the message.

Anyone who has information about this incident is encouraged to contact SFPD via the department's anonymous tip line at 415-575-4444, or text TIP411 with "SFPD" at the start of the message.

Here’s why we usually don’t include suspect descriptions in crime reports.
