Here's a roundup of notable crimes reported in the Tenderloin since our last edition. All details are drawn from SFPD daily reports, unless otherwise noted.

Man loses meds in four-on-one attack

Around 2:30pm on February 21st, four men approached a 30-year-old man from behind near the intersection of Eddy and Leavenworth streets and knocked his medication from his hands. The four suspects then hit the victim several times. One suspect, reported to be 35 years old, picked up the victim’s medication, brandished his gun, and told the victim to leave. No arrests have been made. 

Teens steal phone from bus rider

Three males said to be in their late teens forcibly stole a 33-year-old woman’s phone from her hand on the bus while it was traveling on the 1100 block of Market Street (near Jones) around 10:10am on February 21st. The suspects have not been identified. 

Woman arrested after unprovoked punching

Just after 9:00am on February 21st, a 35-year-old woman was walking out of a business on the 400 block of Ellis Street (near Jones) when a woman walked up and punched her. The suspect, a 35-year-old woman, fled the scene but was later arrested.

Man thrown to ground, robbed by two teens

Around 11:10pm on February 19th, two men said to be 18 years old approached a 28-year-old man and threw him to the street near the intersection of Turk and Taylor streets. One of the suspects stole the victim's cellphone before they both fled on foot.

Minor collision leads to carjacking, robbery

A 34-year-old man was involved in a relatively minor car collision around 10:21pm on February 19th near the intersection of Larkin and McAllister streets. Both parties pulled over, but when they exited the cars, a man said to be in his early twenties bucked the victim and stole his car, while the other, unknown suspect fled in the second vehicle. The victim’s vehicle was recovered, but his wallet, money, gym bag, and clothing were not. No arrest has been made. 

Man stabbed three-on-two attack

Around 7:30pm on February 19th, a 20-year-old man was walking to his car with a friend when three men of unknown ages approached near the intersection of Taylor and Ellis streets. When the victim tried to protect his friend, one of the suspects swung at him and he realized he had been stabbed. All three suspects fled and have not been identified. The victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries. 

Carjacking at gunpoint

A 30-year-old man left his car running on the 400 block of Jessie Street (near Mission) when a man said to be in his twenties got in around 7:20pm on February 19th. The victim tried to pull the suspect out of his vehicle, but the suspect brandished a gun and fled with the vehicle and the victim’s cell phone eastbound on Jessie. 

Men loses phone to two robbers 

Two men said to be in their twenties approached a 55-year-old man near the intersection of Ellis and Powell around 6:38pm on February 18th. The younger men began wrestling the victim’s phones away. Although the victim resisted, the suspects stole his phones and have not been identified. 

Man threatened at gunpoint after pursuing robbers

Around 3:25am on February 17th, a 26-year-old man was near the intersection of Jones and O’Farrell streets when two men said to be around 35 years old approached him and stole his wallet. The two suspects fled to a nearby vehicle, and the victim chased them until the driver of the get-away-car pointed a gun at him. The suspects drove away southbound on Jones street and no arrest has been made. 

Woman loses cellphone to fast robber

A 34-year-old woman was standing with her cellphone near the intersection of Market and 7th streets around 11:20pm on February 16th when a man said to be in his twenties grabbed her phone and ran away. The woman tried to chase the suspect but did not catch up. 

Man attacked, robbed by four unknown suspects

Four men said to be in their twenties began punching and kicking a 31-year-old man near the intersection of Leavenworth and Turk streets at 2:45am on February 15th. The suspects stole the man’s cellphones and headphones, fled, and have not been identified. 

Man arrested after attack with metal pipe

Around 9:15pm on February 14th, a 61-year-old man and a 44-year-old man got into a fight on the 400 block of O’Farrell Street (near Taylor). The older man hit the victim with a metal pipe and the two continued to argue until the police arrived and arrested the 61-year-old.

Man sort of stabbed by burglars

A man and a woman said to be in their forties entered the apartment of a 50-year-old man on the 100 block of Turk Street (near Taylor) around 1:04pm on February 14th. The burglars took the man’s cash and cellphone, and the male suspect hit the victim with a knife. The victim later flagged down police but no arrest has been made.

Woman robbed, stabbed, pushed down stairs 

A woman walked into a hotel near the intersection of Turk and Jones streets around 6:00am on February 14th when two men said to be in their late twenties or early thirties stole her purse. One of the suspects cut the woman with a knife while the second grabbed her purse and pushed her down the stairs. The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries; no arrest has been made.

Man carrying cash in hand robbed by gunpoint

Around 10:05pm on February 12th a 64-year-old woman was walking near the intersection of Market and 5th streets carrying cash in his hand. A man said to be 47 years old walked up to him with a gun and demanded the victim hand over his money. The older man complied and the suspect ran in an unknown direction.

Man robbed of wallet and cellphone

An unknown suspect stole a 52-year-old man’s cellphone and wallet, including his drivers license, money, and credit cards, near the intersection of 6th and Market streets around 2:00am on February 12th. No arrest has been made. 

Shoplifter injures worker, steals clothes

A woman said to be between 18 and 21 years old walked into a store on the 800 block of Market Street (near Ellis) around 1:10pm on February 11th and stole some clothing. A 25-year-old woman put a hand out to stop the suspect. The younger woman pulled on the victim’s hand then ran away with the store’s property. No arrest has been made.

Woman pepper sprayed, loses purse

Around 5:35am on February 9th, a 67-year-old woman was pepper sprayed by a man said to be in his late twenties near the intersection of Golden Gate and Van Ness avenues. The woman dropped her purse and the suspect picked it up, fled south on Van Ness Avenue on foot, and has not been identified. 

The Tenderloin Police Station's February community meeting is scheduled for next Tuesday, February 27th, at 301 Eddy St.
