In the early hours of March 20, El Cajon Police apprehended a 37-year-old homeless man, identified as Alexander Ingles, for possessing illicit materials and narcotics. According to a news release posted on the City of El Cajon's official website, the registered sex offender from Escondido was discovered in breach of his probation conditions, which stem from previous convictions related to child pornography and drug sales.

Ingles was found by authorities at around 2:50 AM, asleep in his vehicle parked on the 800 block of Broadway. Officers who made contact over a vehicle code infraction, carried out a subsequent search owing to his probation status. The search led, to the discovery of graphic images of child pornography on his cell phone, in addition to a quantity of methamphetamine deemed usable. Following the findings, Ingles was taken into custody and faced booking into San Diego County Jail.

The charges laid against Ingles are multiple felonies related to possession of child pornography and drugs. Additionally, he is confronted with the allegations of violating the terms of his probation. The case is a stark reminder of ongoing legal and social battles against sexual exploitation and substance abuse permeating various layers of the community.
