The Port of Oakland has a new culinary player in the game with Mia Comida Casera Mezcaleria, affectionately known as Mia, bringing authentic Mexican fare to the palates of Jack London Square patrons. This fresh taqueria, situated attractively across from Plank in the Broadway Plaza area, serves up a homemade taste of Mexico, creating a buzz among locals.
Since opening its doors last month in a cozy 1,170 square-foot space, Mia dishes up a vibrant range of Mexican cuisine, including burritos, quesadillas, chilaquiles, and tacos—with prices that won’t break the bank. Alfonso Dominguez, the driving force behind Mia, beamed with pride when talking about his venture. "Opening a restaurant here has been great. People are super happy that we’re here, and business is growing every week," Dominguez told the Port of Oakland. "Our family is honored to open in Jack London Square because of its beauty, its location by the water, we love the diversity here, and it’s iconic to Oakland," he added.
Highlighting the menu are signature plates like chile rellenos, cochinita pibil, and a refreshing ceviche. Moreover, the restaurant boasts a full-service tequila and mezcal bar where connoisseurs and the curious alike can indulge in Mexico's famed spirits. But if it’s a quick bite you’re after, Mia accommodates with a takeout program for those on the fly.
Jonathan Veach, Port of Oakland Chief Real Estate Officer expressed his enthusiasm about the new establishment, "We are so excited to welcome Mia to Jack London Square," he explained. The Square continues to attract new and diverse tenants, and Mia will build upon the international cuisines offered on the waterfront," he conveyed in a statement obtained by the Port of Oakland. Open Wednesdays through Saturdays from 11 am to 9 pm and Sundays 11 am to 4 pm, Mia is positioning itself as the new go-to hotspot for those craving an authentic bite in the heart of Oakland's bustling waterfront district.
