Anoka County Offers Free Document Shredding to Thwart Identity Theft on May 4 at Coon Rapids Recycling CenterSource: Coon Rapids

Residents and small businesses in Anoka County have the opportunity to safely dispose of their sensitive documents at an upcoming paper shredding event. The service will be available on Saturday, May 4 from 9:00 A.M. to noon at the Coon Rapids Recycling Center, located at 1827 111th Ave. NW, as reported by the city's official announcement. Participants are encouraged to take advantage of the no-cost shredding offer but should note there's a five-box limit per visit.

The process is designed for efficiency and security with documents promptly placed into carts, then destroyed in a mobile cross-cut shredder, turning papers into confetti-sized pieces. Once the shredding is complete, visitors can leave their cardboard boxes at the Recycling Center for disposal.

However, for those planning to attend, it is important to remember that not all items are accepted. Specifically, the event prohibits the shredding of three-ring binders, credit cards, and CDs – ensuring the machinery is reserved solely for paper products. All other forms of paper, including books of checks and files in folders, are accepted without a need for separation.

As the push for identity theft prevention continues to grow, Anoka County residents are increasingly turning to these events to protect their personal information. For more details, about the event, residents are encouraged to visit the City of Coon Rapids website.
