Chaos erupted on a Vacaville freeway this past Tuesday after a truck linked to numerous vehicle burglaries led Fairfield PD on a high-speed chase gone awry. According to the Vacaville Police Department, Fairfield PD officers discontinued their pursuit as the suspect vehicle blazed the wrong way on I-80 near Vacaville, citing public safety concerns.

In a series of events that unfolded like a scene from an action movie—only all too real—the suspect truck rammed into several vehicles after exiting the interstate while being tracked by CHP Air Ops. Around 1:30 p.m., the four men inside the truck attempted a desperate escape on foot, their truck having become immobilized on Elmira Rd. and Aegean Way after striking innocent commuters.

The quartet, all in their 20s hailing from various parts of the Bay Area, didn't get far before officers, guided by the eye in the sky, apprehended them. Witnesses reported seeing the young men tossing firearms during their flight, a detail bolstering the evening's haul according to Vacaville PD comments — four unregistered, loaded guns were recovered.

Vacaville Police noted that three of the arrestees were on probation—one federally—and the charges blossomed extensively from there: assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, homicide, and murder figured among the prior offenses. They were transferred into Fairfield PD's custody and awaited a smorgasbord of felony charges at Solano County Jail.
