Cedar Hill Police Partner with Community to Collect Unwanted Meds in Safe Disposal Event at WalgreensSource: Cedar Hill Police Department

Join forces with the Cedar Hill Police this weekend to safely discard those old pills cluttering your medicine cabinet. On April 27th, the Cedar Hill Police Department's Police and Community Team (PACT) set up a shop at Walgreen's Cedar Hill from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a community health initiative. According to Cedar Hill Police Department, this drug take-back event aimed to collect unused, unwanted, or expired prescription medications from residents.

In their bid to curb the potential abuse and environmental impact of improperly disposed medications, PACT stood ready to guide Cedar Hill locals through the drop-off process, but remember they can't accept everything, items like needles, syringes, aerosol spray cans, chemicals, lotions, medical devices, or other hazardous materials were firmly off the table, PACT hopes this initiative will not only clean up medicine cabinets but also protect the community and environment from the dangers of prescription drug misuse.

The initiative is part of a larger national effort to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications. Studies have shown that initiatives like these are critical steps in preventing drug addiction and overdose deaths.

It's a call to action for the community at large; such events underscore the ongoing partnership between law enforcement, community organizations, and residents to ensure a safer environment for all, not just on this day but every day and the Cedar Hill Police thanks those who participated the hope being that these medications, now out of harm's way, will signify one fewer gateway to addiction, one fewer hazard to our waters, and countless benefits to our collective wellbeing.
