Heads up, D.C. drivers! The capital is gearing up for the Emancipation Day Celebration this Sunday, and it's bringing a host of commuter headaches with it – think no parking zones and street shutdowns. According to a traffic advisory issued by the Metropolitan Police Department, a swath of streets will be slapped with Emergency No Parking restrictions, so you'll want to look out for signs and keep your wheels clear of these hotspots from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Specifically, you're going to want to steer clear of Pennsylvania Avenue NW, between 12th and 14th Streets. Same goes for E Street, from 13th to 14th Streets, NW, and all of 13th Street that connects the two. And if you're planning on cruising through any time on April 14, forget about it – those streets are closing to traffic for the entire day.

But wait, there's more. It's not just those thoroughfares that are getting the red light. The advisory, available on MPDC's website, also lists additional closures. Parts of 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th Streets NW, as well as a stretch of Pennsylvania Avenue, will be off-limits for parking and driving from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. during the height of the celebration.
