The FBI is on the hunt for a 56-year-old Texas woman accused of defrauding senior citizens through a wire scam, and they're shelling out big bucks for tips. Regina Lynn Thomas, also known to operate under the pseudonym Nikki Laday, is accused of masquerading as a registered nurse to manipulate the elderly within care centers around Houston.
An arrest warrant for Thomas was issued by the United States District Court on January 12, as reported by the Houston Chronicle. She's facing more than a six barrels worth of charges—65 counts of wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud, to be exact. The subterfuge is alleged to have begun back in 2017, with a trail of deceit winding through the Houston metro area, including Pearland and Sugar Land.
A reward of $10,000 is on the table for anyone who can deliver information that leads to Thomas's capture. The FBI's Houston division is calling on the public to step up. This alleged con artist is considered a significant threat to one of the most vulnerable segments of the society—the elderly who often depend on the guise of a caregiver's comfort and trust.
