A Nashville community is grappling with loss after Joey Fecci, a 26-year-old local chef, died following a medical emergency during the St. Jude Rock 'n' Roll Nashville Marathon. Immediately following the incident, which saw Fecci collapse in the Shelby Park area of the race, on-site medical responders administered CPR before rushing him to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The sad news was confirmed by the Rock 'n' Roll Running Series, having stated in a press release obtained by FOX 17 News that the participant received prompt medical attention during the April 27 event. Out of respect for the participant's family, the organizers said they would have no further comment.

Joey Fecci, beloved for his positive spirit and culinary talents, worked until January at the Yolan inside the Joseph Hotel. Paying tribute to their tragic loss, the Fecci family described Joey as a significant presence lost too soon. "It is with unbearable grief and immense sorrow that we share our dear and beloved Joey transitioned to the other side on Saturday, April 27," Fecci's said, as per MSN. They added, "He was a bright light of inspiration and positivity to everyone who was blessed to cross paths with him."

According to authorities, Fecci's death, mourned by a broken family loving him so deeply, is considered a natural death and not under investigation. This articulation of the grief-stricken family also noted that Joey was a treasured son, brother, boyfriend, and friend in the community, as reported by MSN.
