Philly parks are calling all hands on deck for some spring sprucing this May, all you need is a bit of elbow grease and love for your local green spaces. According to the City of Philadelphia's website, Love Your Park Week kicks off on May 11, stretching till May 19, and it’s your chance to chip in.

With over 100 parks participating, volunteers are welcomed to plant, prune, and pick up leaves to their hearts' content, because after all, there’s no such thing as too much tending or too many flowers when you’re doing it for the ‘hood. As the weather warms, Mother's Day approaches, bringing with it the FOW’s Backyard Bash where families can enjoy performances or get crafty at art workshops, although the specifics of these events remain as elusive as spring sunshine in an April shower.
