It's been two long months without any sign of 15-year-old Sebastian Rogers since he disappeared from his Sumner County home, triggering a nationwide AMBER Alert. The search for Sebastian, described as an autistic teen who may have walked away from his home in the night, has turned cold with officials and volunteers coming up empty-handed.
According to WKRN, the AMBER Alert was issued a day following his absence was reported. Initially, law enforcement ramped up search efforts, which later extended to a landfill in Kentucky, although no sign of the boy has been found. Sumner County commissioner Don Schmit emphasized the importance of hope: "Law enforcement has not, you know, drawn any conclusions, so we need to keep hope up and keep praying for this young teen and his parents and his dad that you know he is going to be found. We just got to keep the faith," Schmit stated.
Meanwhile, in a statement obtained by Fox 17, local authorities and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation have yet to turn up any viable leads. Sebastian's parents, Katie and Chris Proudfoot, found his room empty that fateful Monday morning, and since then, volunteer efforts, including dive teams, have expanded the search beyond the initial five-mile radius covered by law enforcement.
A different angle was introduced by a private investigator hired by Sebastian's biological father, Seth Rogers. Heather Cohen, the investigator at the center of this effort, shared her insights with NewsNation Now, "There’s been really no leads that have been shared with me by law enforcement," a frustration echoed by the father. Cohen points towards a "domino effect of events," citing a previous custody battle, a Department of Children's Services referral that remains shrouded in secrecy, and rumored family troubles to piece together a puzzle that might explain Sebastian's disappearance.
As days tick on without a trace of Sebastian Rogers, the community's commitment to finding him remains undiminished.
