The budget carrier's move, set to start operations on July 10, was officially announced earlier this week, promising travelers an extra option for their in-state jaunts. Up until now, American Airlines and Southwest Airlines have been the go-to carriers for Dallas-bound flyers from San Antonio, serving up multiple nonstop flights daily with Southwest flying to Dallas Love Field instead.
While many carriers continue to reestablish their network maps that were upturned by the pandemic, Spirit is angling itself strategically in the Texas market. Having launched a daily service to Newark/New York earlier this month, the latest addition pushes in bolder into the Texas airspace. Operating twice a day, the flights are scheduled to jet off from SAT at the crack of dawn at 5:00 a.m., rolling into DFW before the day's grind truly commences at 5:50 a.m. Then, after the day's hustle, another flight takes wing from SAT at 3:15 p.m. to reach DFW by 4:05 p.m., whisking away passengers at just the right time.
Travelers will be making their cross-Texas treks aboard Airbus A320 aircraft, each outfitted with 182 seats, offering a compact yet comfortable experience. Departures from DFW are timed to dovetail with the business and leisure rhythms too—passengers can catch a midday flight that leaves at 1:20 p.m., landing in SAT by 2:15 p.m., or snag the late-night service departing at 10:10 p.m. to touch down at SAT an hour before the stroke of midnight at 11:05 p.m.
