A string of shootings over the weekend has left two men dead and several injured across Chicago, continuing the city's battle with gun violence. In one incident, a 28-year-old man was shot multiple times and subsequently died in the Logan Square neighborhood according to the Chicago Sun-Times. The Cook County medical examiner's office ruled his death a homicide following an autopsy.

The man was discovered early Sunday morning in a Walgreens parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds and despite urgent care, was pronounced dead after transport to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, the police mentioned. Over the weekend, the city saw at least 16 shooting victims which, included a 33-year-old man killed in the South Chicago neighborhood.

Chicago Police Department has yet to make any arrests in either homicide case. The second fatal shooting occurred just before 11 p.m. Sunday in the 8800 block of South Burley Avenue, where a dark-colored vehicle reportedly fled the scene post-incident. This information was gathered and reported by WTTW News.

The weekend violence did not discriminate by age, as teenagers also fell victim to the shootings. A 19-year-old woman and a 14-year-old boy were both shot in the 6100 block of West Dickens Avenue, and a 17-year-old boy was wounded in the 6100 block of South Peoria Street, on Sunday afternoon. Each of the teens survived. No arrests were reported in those incidents either.
