A deadly weekend in Long Beach left one man dead from a gunshot and another injured from a stabbing, according to local authorities. The Long Beach Police Department reported a homicide on the 1600 block of Gaviota Avenue on the night of April 14. Officers received a shot call around 8:46 P.M. and discovered a male victim with a grave gunshot wound. Although emergency responders rushed to administer aid, the victim later died at the hospital, the LBPD Blotter announced.

In the early hours following the shooting, at around 12:34 a.m., a possible suspect was spotted driving a vehicle, leading to a police chase, during which, the individual abandoned the car and fled on foot near Pacific Coast Highway and Walnut Avenue. The SWAT team ultimately nabbed the suspect, transporting him to the Long Beach City Jail for booking on an unrelated no-bail warrant. Detectives are still piecing together his potential role in the fatal shooting.

Meanwhile, a separate incident occurred on the 1000 block of St. Louis Avenue. Police were called to the scene of a domestic dispute that turned violent at about 3:16 a.m. on April 15, where they found a man with stab wounds that were fortunately non-life-threatening. After a heated verbal exchange with a female escalated, the man was stabbed by someone who knew him, identified as Yadiel Rodriguez, an 18-year-old resident of Long Beach. Rodriguez has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon and his bail is set at $30,000, reports the LBPD Blotter.
