An incident at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center Habersham has led to the arrest of Christopher Jarred Martin, an Alto man charged with assaulting a hospital security guard and impeding medical personnel, authorities reported.

The altercation occurred Tuesday night when, according to FOX 5 Atlanta, Martin kicked a security officer in the face, resulting in abrasions and swelling, and bit the officer's hand, inflicting broken skin and bruising. At the time, while the victim was restraining Martin, unfortunately, was injured protecting the safety of the emergency medical facility.

Habersham County Public Information Officer Rob Moore was cited by AccessWDUN, stating the warrants detail the visible injuries sustained by the hospital staff member, indicating a clear assault took place.

In addition to the assault, Martin faces charges of obstruction of an emergency medical technician. This charge pertains to individuals accused of resisting or obstructing medical professionals by threatening or enacting violence against them. While being charged, Martin was committing violence allegedly against a security officer, a registered nurse, and a medical technician who worked for Northeast Georgia Health System.
