A man was fatally shot in North Austin over the weekend, and authorities have since identified the victim as 38-year-old Nicholas Taylor. Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a call of an active shooting Saturday at around 3:26 a.m. on the 1800 block of Colony Creek Drive, where Taylor was found with a gunshot wound, CBS Austin reported.

APD officials say that Taylor was apparently pulled from his vehicle and then shot before the suspect managed to quickly flee the scene. Officers were patrolling the area of Northgate Boulevard when they heard the disturbance, prompting an immediate search which led to the discovery of Taylor. Despite emergency medical services arriving swiftly, Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:37 a.m., according to the same report by CBS Austin.

The search for the perpetrator continues as homicide detectives work to piece together the events leading up to the shooting. FOX 7 Austin confirms that the investigation remains active, with police urging members of the community to come forward with any information related to the crime.

APD has announced a reward of up to $1,000 for information that could lead to an arrest. Witnesses or those with knowledge pertaining to the incident are encouraged to come forward to potentially assist in delivering justice for Taylor's untimely demise.
