A young man from Chicago's South Side is facing serious charges after being slapped with multiple felony charges for a string of strong-arm robberies in the city's bustling downtown area. Kyir Walker, 21, who hails from the 13000 block of S. Evans Ave., was taken into police custody last Tuesday night following investigative work that pointed to his involvement in at least two separate incidents of theft.

Chicago's Finest apprehended Walker at roughly 6:37 p.m. near the 3300 block of N. Clark St. and subsequently charged him with two counts of robbery, according to a press release from the Chicago Police Department. This young man is accused of forcefully divesting an unassuming 37-year-old man of his property back on April 6 near the prime shopping artery of N. Michigan Ave., and another incident involving a 20-year-old male victim occurred at the same location on March 20.

Walker's first fight for freedom (or lack thereof) will take place at a detention hearing slated for today at the Cook County Criminal Courthouse at 2600 S. California. Representatives of the Windy City's law enforcement community have not dispensed any further comment on the cases against Walker.
