Miami is set to become the hotbed for transportation gurus next week, as city leaders and industry innovators gear up for CoMotion MIAMI 2024. Slated to kick off on May 6 at Miami Dade College’s Wolfson Campus, the two-day conference boasts a who's who of transportation bigwigs, including Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation Polly Trottenberg. According to Miami-Dade County's announcement, attendees can expect a full slate of talks, workshops, and demos aimed at driving forward the future of urban mobility.

With an eye on embracing the futuristic transit solutions, "integrating innovation" has been chosen as this year's theme, embodying Miami-Dade's appetite for ventures like self-driving rail and eco-friendly port power systems. Looking ahead to the National Association of City Transportation Officials Designing Cities Conference, which Miami-Dade County will subsequently host for the first time, CoMotion MIAMI aims at setting the stage for transformative discussions on public transportation redesign.

Among the event's highlights are panels tackling the juxtaposition of future visions versus practical fundamentals in urban transport. Delegates are also looking to get schooled on smart use of SMART grants and witness the force the nation's mayors play in reshaping city streets and transit. Throwing her weight behind these themes, Miami-Dade County's own Transportation and Public Works Director, Eulois Cleckley, is expected to share his insights, alongside a cadre of fellow transportation honchos including Gabe Klein, the Executive Director of the U.S. Joint Office of Energy & Transportation.
